Introduction:

Smoke signals, pigeon posts, snail mails, electrical telegraph, landline, brick phones, dumb phones, smart phones and “smarter phones” (maybe?). We have evolved on how we interact with each other, thanks to technology. Did people who invented smoke signals predicted the coming of smart phones? Did inventors of the traditional telegram predicted that the name would one day have over 700 million users?

Technology plays a major role, changing people’s daily lives in every aspect. Businesses will transform, the way things are done in the past will achieve a “new normal”, job demands will evolve with todays and future technology trend. Join this session to get familiarize with words like Quantum Computing, AI (Artificial Intelligence),  Citizen Developers, IoT, 5G and beyond; which are among the technology megatrend shaping the world today.

Julia Hoong

Keysight Education Program Development Manager

Julia Hoong holds an MBA from Nottingham Trent University, UK. and BEng. Chemical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She joined Agilent Technologies (now Keysight Technologies) in 2005 and progressed in her career as the Quality Engineering Lead for a wide range of products ranging from Test Accessories and Microcircuits to Life Sciences.

Besides her engineering role, Julia is an active contributor in Keysight’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives. She is a member of the Penang Keysight Women Council, a mentor speaker for the annual Keysight’s Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) program, facilitator and mentor in Girls in Engineering and Technology (GET) program & Innovate Malaysia Design Challenge (IMDC), past president and advisor of Keysight Mothers’ Club and a member of the Society of Women Engineer.

With her strong passion in engaging the university and student community, she was appointed the Education Program Development Manager in Nov 2018; responsible for global strategic educational programs such as the worldwide Industry-Ready Student Certification Program and creating meaningful collaborations with educators and academic researchers.
