Introduction

Digital image processing allows an individual to manipulate information of an image using various computer algorithms. These methods have been used in various environments from simple amateur photography to satellite imaging.

This course introduces digital image processing and its fundamental algorithms, as well as hands-on knowledge of the use of LabVIEW Vision Development Module. Starting from a basic approach of introducing images, this course leads up to the advanced topic of image analysis using template matching. The aim is to provide a platform for engineers to understand image processing and apply it in industrial conditions using LabVIEW.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Use the LabVIEW Vision Development Module to acquire and process images
  • Transform between image types and formats
  • Understand, customize and use image enhancement, edge detection and colour separation algorithms
  • Develop complex algorithms from the building blocks provided

Target Audience

This course is ideally suited for Engineers who are interested in image processing and the use of machine vision in an automation environment

Prerequisite

Participants should have a Diploma/Degree in Electronics or Computer (and related) Engineering with an understanding of digital signals. A working knowledge of LabVIEW (at a minimum level of LabVIEW Core 2 or weekly usage of at least 9 months) is required
