Introduction

The PADS Standard Plus Layout course teaches you the basic workflow of designing a printed circuit board using the latest VX version of Mentor Graphics PADS Layout. The flow focus of this course is on using an integrated input into PADS Layout from DX Designer. You are guided through the steps necessary to design a printed circuit board. Course highlights include creating part types, importing netlists, placing parts, routing connections, generating reports and generating Gerber outputs. Detailed lab exercises help reinforce what is discussed during the lectures and provide you with extensive tool usage experience under the guidance of our instructor.

For PADS Plus Layout:

  • Customize and work with the PADS Layout interface
  • Create Board Outlines, Keepouts, and 2D Line items
  • Create Parts Types, PCB Decals, and Pad Stacks
  • Perform Project Integration, define the board stackup, and set design rules
  • Place parts manually and use cross-probing capabilities
  • Route a design using manual/interactive routing and editing tools
  • Create copper shapes and plane areas
  • Verify the design
  • Generate Gerber Data
  • Work with ECO files

For PADS Router:

  • Customize and work with the PADS Router user interface
  • Place components
  • Set an autorouting strategy
  • Assign Properties, Rules and Routing Preferences for the Design and its Objects
  • Route, Fanout and Optimize nets by Interactive Selection
  • Use the Command Window to View Reports
  • Set Layer Direction, Corner and Quality Options for Optimal Routing
