About This Course
This training empowers participants with the knowledge and practical skills to use artificial intelligence (AI) in everyday work and decision-making. Focusing on large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models, the course highlights powerful yet accessible open-source tools. It's designed for non-coders, educators, entrepreneurs, and curious professionals who want to apply AI to real-world challenges without the high cost of commercial platforms.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be equipped with practical, applicable AI knowledge and skills:
- Understand Fundamental AI Concepts Clearly articulate what AI is, its capabilities, and practical uses in everyday life, highlighting the multimodal AI revolution.
- Evaluate and Choose Appropriate AI Deployment Options Identify the key differences, advantages, and limitations of cloud versus local AI deployment, selecting the best option for specific scenarios.
- Install and Configure Essential AI Tools Successfully set up and run Docker, Open WebUI, and Ollama to host powerful open-source AI models locally.
- Manage and Customize Open-Source LLMs Download, configure, and operate popular open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) like LLaMA and Mistral, and tailor their behaviour using system prompts and parameters.
- Implement Practical AI Applications Leverage local AI setups to perform tasks such as document summarization, interactive Q&A, report generation, and intelligent knowledge retrieval (Retrieval-Augmented Generation - RAG).
- Design and Execute Automation Workflows with AI Build effective automation workflows using n8n, integrating AI capabilities for tasks such as summarizing text, responding to queries, and enhancing business processes.
- Demonstrate Practical AI Skills Through a Capstone Project Develop and present a comprehensive AI-powered workflow or assistant prototype that demonstrates learned skills and readiness for real-world AI applications.
- Maintain and Scale Local AI Implementations Understand key considerations for maintaining, troubleshooting, and scaling local AI solutions, ensuring ongoing efficiency, privacy, and cost-effectiveness.
Prerequisites
Participants to have basic understanding of business operations & interest in digital tools (no coding required for most of the course), with adequate digital skills i.e. using browsers, typing on laptop, following instructions.
