Study
The Penang Industrial Talent Requirement
Study (PITRS) is a PSDC publication
which addresses the key issue of whether Penang’s skilled talents are
sufficiently equipped to meet the demands of this new knowledge, technology,
and information-driven global environment. It estimates the current capacity
and proficiency of the Penang workforce, as well as gauges the future manpower
requirements of the State’s manufacturing sector in the timeframe of the next
one to two years. Based on feedback and
evaluation of a representative sampling of leading global and local
manufacturing companies, the Study also considers the issues of skills mismatch
and proficiency gaps, and the key industry recommendations for remedial action
which are of pressing relevance to Penang’s manufacturing economy today.
