Shared Services

Enabling D&D through Shared Services

Over a period of 20 years, the PSDC has grown from a 5,000 sq. ft. facility into a 230,000 sq. ft. world-class organization. It is poised for further physical growth in 2010 with the set up of its new Shared Services Centre, which will house Malaysia’s largest Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Lab. The Shared Services Centre in the Northern Region will be fully operational, which will also comprise of an Radio Frequency and Wireless Technology Lab and Embedded Systems Lab to support product testing and development. Training programs aimed at ‘fast-tracking’ the work-readiness of university graduates will be conducted in partnership with member companies to bridge the competency gap of our graduates and needs of the industry, while PSDC diploma programs will provide its students with an education pathway that will connect them into the industry upon graduation. The Shared Services Centre will also enable greater collaboration between the industry and academia. These facilities are essential for the industry to develop prototypes as most organizations are faced with a setback of high investment outlay followed by a low utilization rate after the initial implementation. Having such facilities at the PSDC will enable sharing of these facilities among the industry players. More importantly, they will provide a tangible bridge between the industry and the PSDC as the PSDC continues to develop relevant training curricular.
